At Wandsworth and Westminster Mind we believe in the principles of recovery and in the service user as expert of his or her own mental illness. We are committed to supporting and enabling mental health service users to have a say in all aspects of the services they receive- from their individual care, treatment and support to being able to influence local and national policy and service design and development.
We are also committed to the principles of co-production and to breaking down the barriers between people who use services and professionals providing them; to building on people’s existing capabilities. We believe in the value of reciprocity (where people get something back for having done something for others) and mutuality (people working together to achieve their shared interests) and in working alongside peer and personal support as well as professional networks.
As part of our commitment to service users having a say and being involved in the development and delivery of mental health services, we host, support and monitor the Westminster Mental Health Service User Network known locally as the Westminster Forum for Mental Health.
Voicing Views is another forum where mental health service users can have their say and help shape how services are delivered and developed in Wandsworth. Click here to find out more.
