Supported Housing Services

We run supported housing services in Wandsworth and Westminster.

What we do

We support people who have been affected by mental ill health to achieve fulfilling lives. Our main aim is for people using our services to develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible in their communities and eventually to move into their own homes.

How we do it

We provide high quality self-contained and shared accommodation in various locations throughout the London boroughs of Wandsworth and Westminster.

Each client is allocated and supported by a team of specialised key workers and recvoery support workers. Key workers support clients through the move in process and visit clients regularly either in their homes or in the community for the duration of the tenancy.

Clients are supported to identify their goals and assisted to design personalised support plans tailored to their individual needs. At Wandsworth & Westminster Mind, we have established strong connections with various agencies/organisations, giving our clients the opportunity and choice to get involved in a range of activities or develop new interests - paving the way to independence in their recovery journey.

How people benefit

We support our clients to achieve their life goals by breaking them down into smaller more achievable steps. Here are some examples of how people benefit from this approach:

  • Better management of mental and physical health, wellbeing and fitness
  • Improved daily living skills- shopping, cooking, cleaning
  • Tenancy Management-maintaining a safe and healthy home, dealing with repairs, paying rent and utility bills,
  • Managing money, bills, debts and benefits
  • Developing self-confidence, positive assertiveness, and communication skills
  • Developing friendships and social connections
  • Doing more things of interest and that mean something to client
  • Getting involved in the community, making a contribution, supporting others, volunteering
  • Getting into education, training work experience, volunteering and paid work
  • Moving on to independence as active, and participating members of the community
We work in partnership with Adult Mental Health and other specialist services to provide people with holistic support. Clients receive personalised, high quality support packages and can call on the expertise of our experienced and dedicated team to navigate their recovery jouneys.

What is it like to move on to more independent accommodation?

When clients are ready to move on, they are referred to more independent accommodation. We know that this can be a challenging time, which is why we have a designated resettlement officer who supports clients to settle into their new homes providing services for up to 6 months.
