Wandsworth & Westminster Mind is a thriving consolidated charity delivering and growing community mental health services across Wandsworth, Westminster. Our reach stretches as far as Camden, where we deliver creative arts in support of mental wellbeing.
The merger has been a great success, strengthening the services we can offer. We deliver tailored support for a broad range of problems from commonly experienced depression and anxiety through to more serious and enduring mental health challenges.
We have also promoted mental health awareness in the wider community, to employers and their staff and to students in schools and colleges, tackling the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health, encouraging people to have open conversations and to seek help earlier.
Since we merged in April 2015 we have integrated both former local Mind charities directed by a unified Board of Trustees and management team. We have invested for growth and this year will see the opening of two brand new wellbeing hubs in the centre of Westminster and in Tooting.
Alongside these big achievements we have extended our talking therapy services, setting up a service where people can receive therapy in their mother tongue as part of a wider living well initiative sponsored by West London Commissioners. We have launched a fitness programme in Wandsworth in partnership with health and the Council, supporting healthy lifestyles. Harnessing the expertise of expert patients, we have extended our Peer Wellbeing Coaching Programme and offered routes into our direct employment for these graduates.
These are just some of our achievements over the past year and we have many more ambitions for the future. Watch the film and see what Janice Horsman, CEO sees on the horizon for Wandsworth & Westminster Mind.
